Islam and Yoga 9
Fundamental
principle of Islam- Monotheism and five pillars of Islam were mentioned last
week.
Now let us see brief explanations about the
pillars
1. Eeman – Firm belief in Oneness of
Almighty and His Messenger in thought word and deed
“Thought is
deed “ is an important principle in Islam
2. Salaath-
Prayer – 5 times a day. About this we
shall see further explanation later
3.
Sawn- Fasting in the Holy month of
Ramzan.. One has to abstain from food drinks and physical pleasure from sun
rise to sun set and avoid anger, harsh words and falsehood
This serves
as a very good training for controlling the senses. One is hungry, tasty food
is available but he cannot eat Likewise he cannot quench his thirst even though
water and other delicious drinks are very near to him. And the same with
physical pleasure
By making
the people in the upper strata of life experience hunger and thirst, it serves
a social cause.
Subject to
certain conditions the above three are compulsory for all Muslims
Remaining 2
. Zakah- and
Hajj- Pilgrimage are only for those who can afford to
