I have developed a love affection and passion towards Holiday Homes of Canara Bank

Neatly maintained comfortable and spacious well furnished rooms at very nominal rent,

And the caretakers are courteous and they provide neat food  for a  price

Above all the furniture particularly cots and cupboards remind me of my home and office

Previously AC rooms were reserved for executives , But now all rooms are air conditioned and fitted with color TV  

I have  enjoyed the comfort of Holiday Homes in Chennai, Madurai, Kanniyaakumari , Trivandrum ,Mysore Trichy and Welfare Fund HH in Bangalore

Kanyakumari- rooms  easily available and all rooms have a balcony from where we can enjoy view of the sea and sun rise/ setting

Mostly I felt at home in HH

They are conveniently located and easily accessible by road train and local transport  

But for every rule there must be an exemption. This applies to HH also.

One particular HH is situated in a  temple town very near to the temple and is almost like a temple .

In all rooms there is a  picture of the deity  and daily  puja times exhibited

It is not very near to Railway/Bus station . No good hotels nearby

Above  all the  scornful look of the care takers and unrealistic restrictions like remove your shoes before entering the .office room – because there is a picture of Deity made me and my wife sick and uncomfortable like anything

It was virtually written on the wall and in the faces of people there—this is only for those who come to worship the temple deity – and others are trespassing

The upkeep was also not good

Only once I stayed. After that I have frequently visited  the  city.But I never felt like staying In HH  and I prefer a  comparatively very costly hotel room

I am pained to say the HH does not speak well of our Culture and Tradition

Before closing a few words about Chennai HH

It is very difficult to get a room booked there . Always Houseful . And they do not  accept very advance booking also

Some solution has to be arrived at . Possibility of opening one more HH can be explored 

I hope to see some changes for better
