Last week we saw the 8 major
divisions of Yoga .
Now let us see th short description of
these divisions
Yama speaks about social discipline
that is rules and regulations for peaceful coexistence in a society
Niyama is about individual
discipline
Asana is the popular yogasana. Simply
it can be called physical exercise. But there is a lot of difference between
yogasana and physical exercises.. We can have a bit wider discussion about this
later.
Pranayama for the purpose of understanding
can be named breathing exercise
Prathiyagara indicates controlling of
senses
Dharana – concentration of mind
Dhyana- Meditation
Samathi – self realization leading
to realization of Almighty. One
who realizes himself can realize almighty – Prophet Muhammad (Sal)
Out of these Yama and Niyama have each 5 sub
divisions
We will see them
Next week Next Part
