Spinal
Stretching
One is as young as one’s spine. .
Yoga
concentrates much on deep, thorough stretches of the spine, bringing the head
forward to rest on the knees. All the
nerves of the body are channeled from the spinal cord out between the
vertebrae.
A healthy
spine is of central importance for the well being of the whole human body and mind,
It takes
much patient, persistent practice to make and keep the spine ideally flexible,
and the only the most dedicated succeed in this.
In Islamic Prayer spinal stretch is easily
achieved in the bowing position called
Ruku.
In ruku the
back is bent by placing stretched palms on the knees and pressed tightly
Limbs should
be straight without bending. Back should be parallel to floor
Eyes should
be looking at the toes
This minimal stretch helps keep the spine in
good condition.
Making ruku
17 times a day beautifully prepares spine for deeper forward stretches
