Islamic
Prayer and Yogasanas 7
Inverted
postures
Human heart
does its best to circulate blood all over the body. But it is a demanding job
particularly when blood has to circulate against gravitational force like
carrying blood to the brain carotid artery and lift blood from feet up to
heart.
Inverted
postures help the circulation go at maximum efficiency
That is why
Sarvanghasana and Sirsasasana are treated as Royal Asanas . In both these
inverted asanas, head is brought below heart
In Islamic
prayer lowering the head below the heart is easily achieved in sujud
position
In this
position fresh blood rushes to the brain to keep it healthy and alert
Ashraf F
Nizami writes
“ This may be termed similar to Half Sirasasana ..It helps full fledged pumping of blood into the brain and upper half of the body including eyes ears nose and lungs “

In sujud
palms are positioned below ears touching the floor fingers closed. In addition
to it, forehead, tip of the nose, two knees and base of toes should touch the
floor. No other part should touch the floor.
This
position is similar to Balasana
Ruku is
performed minimum 17 times a day and sujud 34 times.
Normally ruku 40 times and Sujud 80 is
performed. There are people performing 70 ruku and sujud double of it
(In a TV
programme a renowned Cardiac Expert
said:
“In
